The Grandeur of Granada

Granada Province is located in east of Andalusia with Granada as its capital. There is great geographical diversity in Granada which characterizes the land; the available scenic diversities of Granada make it inevitably a great spot for any vacation for the tourist.
Natural beauty
Granada with its warm weather at the coast offers vast fertile plains; but it also offers mountainous regions that come with a colder weather from the presence of Mulhacén, the 3481m peak of Spain. This is not surprising with Granada situated at the Sierra Nevada Mountains foothills. This position offers a panoramic view of the natural landscapes around with the accompanying Moorish palace grandeur and Renaissance monuments.
The hills around Granada form the exotic background of the city which envelops the old districts. This scenario places the famous Alhambra against steep, narrow streets with many nooks and crannies for one to discover.
Historical beauty
The Alhambra is one of the best historical beauties of Granada which was built by the Moors in 711 when they crossed the Gibraltar Straits to settle in a tiny Visigoth town on top of Alhambra hill. The Moors laid the foundation and erected walls for Granada’s prosperous civilization which came around the 9th century with the fall of Caliphate.
Granada’s splendor peaked in 1238 with the Nasrid dynasty that stretched from Murcia to Gibraltar. Later Granada fell into the hands of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella who were the Catholic monarchs in 1492.
Today, Granada is declared as one of the World Heritage sites with a rich and impressive Islamic culture entrenched in Alhambra’s architectural marvels with the Albaicin and the Generalife.
Winter grandeur
Granada is an interesting stop for any tourist at any time. It is also very popular for winter sports with the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains offering the best of facilities for winter sports such as skiing, skating, sledging and snowboarding.
The magnificent Sierra Nevada offers the best ski resort in southern Europe with modern hotels and excellent skiing facilities. There are as many as 45 marked runs to give 62 kilometers of various levels of skiing difficulties.
Coastal beauty
Granada has so much to offer with its miles of coastal line that boasts of fine sandy beaches that give great holidays.
